Throughout 2021, the local community continued to support Claire House, so that we could remain open and be there to hold the hands of families that desperately needed our care. Thank you so much.
Last year, 443 babies, children and young people with serious and terminal conditions got the care they needed. We were also there for the entire family, including parents, siblings and grandparents, providing expert and vital emotional support.
We were able to support 109 children who sadly died, ensuring that they and their family had the very best care. We only have one chance to get this right, and your support makes this possible.
In 2021, 131 babies, children and young people were able to stay at the hospice for pre-planned respite breaks, totaling 350 days. In the hospice, children can laugh, learn, have fun, and receive the expert care that they deserve. This time can also allow parents and carers to get a much-needed rest, especially for those who have cared 24 hours a day during a pandemic.
Last year, we delivered 731 private counselling sessions for family members who either have a seriously ill child or are sadly bereaved.
Because of you, in 2021, we achieved so much. Claire House is looking after more families than ever before, and we should all be proud of that. Thank you for always being there.
In 2022, we will continue to hold the hands of the local families who need us and reach out further so that we are there for every child that needs us.
