| Coronavirus has made our important work even more difficult. |
| This Winter, we are facing an enormous challenge and your support for local sick children is more important than ever.
|
| Because of you, Claire House has remained open throughout the pandemic and continues to offer vital care to some of the region’s most poorly children. Our priority through this time, as always, was end of life care and our care teams have been exceptionally busy over the last few months. So far we have supported 55 families at the end of their child’s life.
|
| We have also provided increasing amounts of emergency respite and support for families who have been struggling to provide 24-hour care at home throughout the months of ‘lockdown’. Over 100 families are booked in for breaks over the next six months.

| Mum, Shirley, whose son Charlie comes to Claire House explains; “When someone from Claire House rang to see how we were, we said we were exhausted and we were told we could have some emergency care. We got two nights – the first break we’d had in four months.”
|
| With rising rates of infection, our work will only become more difficult over the coming months and most of our fundraising events are likely to be cancelled. But our nurses will continue to come to work, day in, day out, and offer the very best medical and emotional care.
