Planned respite is allocated fairly to all families to ensure we provide an equitable service. These planned breaks enable families to spend time together at home or at the hospice giving them an essential break from having the responsibility of managing and providing all their child’s medical and care needs and from being on constant call. It helps parents to have time to be just mum and dad again knowing their children will be well looked after.
Planned day-care can be provided as an alternative to in-house respite, within family homes or at Claire House Liverpool, planned in with our planned care community team. Family are welcome to stay during the session if they wish.
Dedicated weekends for young people are planned throughout the year to enable groups of young people to stay at the hospice together and enjoy age appropriate activities and trips out including to the pub for the 18 and over age group.
Planned respite at Claire House is complimentary to all other services provided by other agencies.
Your child/young person should generally be well enough to come and stay at the hospice, as they are likely to be mixing socially and possibly going out on trips. If you are unsure or have any queries about whether your child is well enough to come in and would like some advice, please contact the hospice and ask to speak to the shift coordinator who will be able to help you further.
