This opportunity is only open to Claire House siblings aged 18-25. Please indicate your relationship to Claire House on your application form, including the name of your sibling who received or currently receives Hospice services.

Are you a friendly people-person who enjoys interacting with children and young people? Are you compassionate and understanding?

We’re looking for volunteer sibling ambassadors to help support other siblings who face a changed life. You’ll help to facilitate trips and activities, supporting the team to deliver fun and meaningful experiences. By volunteering, you’ll help to encourage siblings to build friendships, provide peer support and feel a sense of belonging in the group.

You’ll be a champion for Claire House siblings and show empathy and understanding to help them grown in confidence, self-esteem and resilience.

This is the perfect role if you enjoy interacting with children and young people, are keen to develop skills and would like to use your own experience and understanding to support others. You’ll provide help on an ad-hoc basis, so it’s also great if you’re looking for a flexible way to volunteer. Some weekend and evening availability is essential as this is when activities will take place.

Requirements:

You must be a CH sibling aged 18-25 (please indicate your relationship to CH on your application form). It is important volunteers are able to demonstrate strong communication skills, empathy, resilience and an understanding of personal and professional boundaries. Please note we have a duty of care to all CH families and we will therefore invite any applicants in for a chat to discuss the nature of this unique role.

  • Be a CH sibling, past or present

  • Be empathetic and understanding
  • Be a good communicator
  • Be willing to undergo mandatory volunteer recruitment checks e.g. informal interview, DBS check, reference checks
